Step 1: Download And Install Linksys App

First thing first, you need the latest and authentic version of an app named Linksys. The application is there free of cost on two major platforms. One is the Google Play Store. Second is the App Store. So android users need to fetch it down from Google Play Store. Whereas the iOS holders can get it from the App store. Be mindful if you already have the application on your device, then update it and only then begin with the configuration of your smart wifi system.

Step 2: Create Your Linksys Account

For configuring the Linksys router, you first need to create an account. Therefore launch the application on your device. Tap on create account option. Give in the necessary details like your email address and basic other information. As you successfully create your Linksys account, you are all set for the smooth configuration.

Users who already have their Linksys account, need to use the accurate login credentials to get an entry to the main panel from where the configuration can be held.

Step 3: Connect Your Router To The Linksys App

To connect your router to the Linksys application, what you have to do is first turn it on. To do so, use the supplied power adapter and plug it into an active power socket. Push the On switch. Now this is the step where users usually make a mistake. They do not wait for the router to boot up properly due to which the configuration fails. Therefore, as you power up the router, make sure its power LED is all lit up and stable. Only then jump onto the next step.

Now for connecting the Linksys device to the internet, you should have an Ethernet wire. With its help, connect the Linksys smart wifi router to your home modem.

Step 4: Follow App Instructions

After building up a successful connection between the two major devices, open your Linksys application. Ensure that the smart wifi enabled device that you are using for the configuration, has a connection to the router’s network only. The credentials for the same are found on the router’s panel. Or you can note it down from the user manual as well.

Now as you open up the application, it will automatically detect your Linksys router. After detection it starts prompting you to follow the steps. Therefore pursue the same for completing the setup.

Step 5: Configure Various Settings

Before logging out of the application, consider doing various basic changes.

  • First one is to assign a network name that is easy to find out. Additionally, curate a special password for the same. To do so, consider curating a password that is a mix of letters, numbers, special characters and use different letter cases to make it more complex to crack.
  • Moving further, it’s beneficial if you create another network for your visitors. You can do so with the help of a feature called Guest network. This simple step will add more to the security of your network. So whenever any guest or an outsider asks for the wifi credentials, you need not spell out the password of your main network, just assign them the details of the guest network.
  • Moreover, to manage the internet activities of your small children, you can take the advantage of parental control features. Through this you can restrict the certain content, websites as well as watching time.
  • The most important part here is firmware updates. Pending updates can make your network sluggish, create security issues as well as cause various other connectivity issues. To eradicate this, make sure there are no pending firmware updates.
  • To make the best possible use of your Linksys router, choose a wifi band as per your current requirements. If you own a dual band Linksys router then you can switch between 2.4Ghz band and 5Ghz band. The 2.4Ghz band is suitable when you need wider wifi coverage. Whereas for fast wifi speeds you can make use of the 5Ghz band.

After making all such changes, finalize and review them before closing the application.

Management Made Easy With Linksys App

The best part about Linksys application is that it allows its users to control the network even from remote places. Users just need to log in and then you can perform an ample number of activities. You can troubleshoot common issues. You can block certain users. Additionally you get to pause wifi for your children and do much more just from the comfort of your smartphone.
